Touch Juke/Poker/Arcade/PINBALL!?! NEW PHOTOS 3/10/10
« on: March 02, 2010, 08:04:00 pm »
So this is my first post & my first attempt at building a cabinet...

I did convert a Chase HQ cabinet over to mame once before so I have a lil experince, but not much...

Ok well lately I have been playin way to much poker stars..So much so I am getting sick of the mouse movements..One day I thought it might be nice to try PS on a touch screen & maybe make like a bar top cabinet ti sit on my desk.. Nothing I do stays a small job for long so after alot of designs I came up with one I liked.. Ordered some video poker buttons & a 15 ELO touch screen..Let see what I got done on day one...

Design..

Day one:

Well thats what I got so far...

Don't count one me sticking to the design completely..
I'm finding this alot hard then expected lol..
I'm sure alot of you know the feeling...

hossa ! thats an interesting design. i like people goin unconventionell. in opinion the back top and and the panel could have been a little less angled and more organic like the side parts.

I hope you don't get ghosting / blocking on that hacked keyboard in-a-box...

I was a tad worried about them as well. However they don't look to be a DIY job. Also the seller has many available & has recived quite a few + feedbacks on them. This was the cheapest one I could find. The fact that it was already pre wired was one of the things that sold me on it.

I was looking through the threads & stumbled across this: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=94553.0

From that I have desided I want to stop my build & add this into the design..I just happen to have a nice 23inch 108p monitor for use..

Anyway this is what I came up with. I need to know if this look like it will work. looks good to me but....

So I have added a few pics:

I like the fold-out design - interesting! I guess I'd be worried about 2 things: 1. Will people be kneeing, or accidentally scuffing that exposed monitor when using it while folded up? And 2. a lot of moving might not be good on an LCD, but I don't really know if it's been tested.

Fun stuff though, man, keep it coming!

UPDATE:

I have built a box I think might fly.

It isn't mounted yet but I took a pic with it sitting on a trash can to give you guys an idea where I am at...

As you can see, I plan to go ahead & hide the entire thing behind a door for protection.

This has also aloud me enough room to add a set of controls to the top of the playfield.

So now I can play other games & use the monitor for more then just PB.

I'm going to have to mod the cp area a bit.. Move the poker buttons & make some extra room but I'll fit it all in...
