Coin mech take any size token?
« on: February 28, 2010, 10:52:05 am »
Hello all,

I've been reading the forums here for a while, and have read many posts that have helped my project. I am stuck in one area though - is it possible to adjust or modify a coin mech to take any size token?

I've toyed around with the idea of just hooking up a microswitch to the return button, but have finally settled upon what I think I would prefer the most - use tokens from several of the arcades I grew up playing at - Malibu Grand Prix, Aladdin's Castle, and Crystal's Pizza (north Texan's will know this one) to trigger the coin insert. The only problem is that the tokens from these places are all sized differently.

Anyone do something similar? Thanks ^_^

Just make a slot that is large enough and add a coin-switch. If you don't mind what they put in, the mech is not needed.

Ah, I gotcha. That made me think of pulling the mech out of the assembly and just building runners to keep the coin contained until it falls through the switch.

So much for me missing the obvious ;-) Thanks for the pointer!

i have 2 happ 0,25$ coin mechs, and i want to change them to any coin acceptance, but i want to keep the sound of coins falling through them.

can i modify this?

p.s. the coin mech let 1 euro coin slip through just fine, so i hope to hack them for those.

for other people, i changed the suzo happ 0,25$ to 1 euro coin bij screwing a bolt with 2 turns.

its the screw behind the copper J shapped hinge, at the end of the feet of the J
