Sharp Image

Hi All:
I have a Sharp Image Monitor with a Tube B68AEG25X15 that I want to match with a Chassis. I have seen Sharp Image using RCA, Philips and Lycus Tubes; but not this one, therefore I'm not sure which Chassis it uses. The problem is the tube does not say the brand either. Nothing comes out on Google or Yahoo for that number. I know Sharp Image makes the same Chassis for RCA and Philips; but they differ in just a few resistors depending on which one is. Any info on this will be appreciated.

have you read the inductance and impedence of the yoke?

Not yet. I want first see if somebody have one like that (from the factory) and they can tell me what Chassis is in there. It's possible and if so it will be a for sure thing.

OK. Yoke Resistance Horizontal=1 Ohm, Vertical=7.5 Ohm meassured with my DVM (Fluke 83) I can't meassure the Inductance, don't have RLC meter. Sorry.

I've got another Sharp Image RCA 25" Tube and the Yoke Resistances are H=1.6 Ohm, V=3.5 Ohm. Humm, I think your idea was great. Thanks. At least I know now it's not a Tube for and RCA equivalent Chassis... Honestly those Sharp Images a pretty confusing since they have manufactured the same Chassis for different tubes with minor differences that's why I want to see if somebody has one like that so they can tell me. Many enthusiastic people visit this forum and they go to extremes to help each others. Thanks.

A68AEG25X15 is a 27" tube. It has a 6.3 volt heater and uses B&K rejuvenator socket number CR23. This tube was used in the Wells-Gardner 27" model U-3000 series.


Remember that Sharp Image did NOT manufacture the chassis. The monitors were actually made by Kortek who made them for Sharp Image.

You are right it is a 27" that's what the (68) means. I don't know why I thought it was 25". But there is another problem is not A68, but B68 and on the other hand is a Sharp Image for sure because the metal frame is definetly a Sharp Image and it even has an sticker reading "Sharp Image". It's not a Wells-Gardner that's for sure.

the first character is  usually a designator for application...(sometimes quality) basically what the tube is destined to become... the best tubes (A's) become monitors...lesser ones (because of a flaws...B's and C's) become cheap televisions and industrial displays.

as always, it's up the the manufacturer to decide, so your mileage may vary... your tube my just be designated a "factory second" due to a few misaligned or mishaped phosphor dots all the way to incorrect glass shaping.

Interesting... Everyday I learn something new. I wonder where you guys find such details and I admire so much dedication to find answers... still I can't find the brand of the Tube. It just says "Hecho en Mexico". Is it RCA, Philips, Thomson???  I will give it a try with a 27" Sharp Image Chassis for a Philips Tube that I have even if the Yoke is wrong and it blows the HOT. Maybe somebody has one like that somewhere who could tell me what's the correct Chassis.

Yes Lilshawn is correct. The "B" indicates it is a second grade tube, likely a phosphor dot or something cosmetic. definitely an RCA/Thompson tube. On the yoke there will be a small label indicating a part # such as 2G27007535 if that is the number it is CGA, it may be 68Q2... find that number and perhaps we can get you a defitive answer.
