BOOYAH! pics of my first cab!
« on: July 25, 2003, 08:11:29 pm »
well i'm finally finished.  i think annoyed about half the people in this forum with stupid questions and posting too many posts when i could have taken 5 min. and figured it out myself.  so impatient am i :)  but anyway, this isn't the prettiest thing in the world, but it's mine and i did it myself and am very pleased.  the cp will probably need more support, but thats easily fixable.  oh well.

however, i want to say a big THANKS to everybody that helped me do this....here let me see....um...thanks to HowardC, Frostillicus, Alan217(i asked you so many stupid questions and you were one of the few that answered all of them! :) ), BobA, Minwah, SNAAAKE (too many damn A's)um....i guess those were the main ones that i can think of off the top of my head.  sorry if i left anyone out.  but thanks so much for your patience when i wasn't!  alright, this is getting gay, so i'll stop.  but have a look and tell me what to improve!  but don't be too harsh or i might just not be able to take it  ;D  anyway, this is just a small quick web page with the pics on it......click and view!

I can't believe you tossed the bloody monitor!  I'd kill for a 25" arcade monitor.  I've got a cabinet just like that (standard Dynamo) w/o monitor, and I need one.

You're complaining because it took you a month to build?!

It has been 4 months and I'm still not done!

hulkster looks great!  And good find with the quarters :)  Looks like that's an old star wars trading card or somehing is among them.  I wouldn't worry about the monitor, burn in sucks and it probably needed re-capped anyways...if it's not worthe the hassle it's not worth the hassle.

What did you do with the orig control panel? You might make some money off it on ebay since it's rather unique.

looks great well done  ;D

But you really should have recessed the mdf underside for the joysticks. They look so small and hard to play with!

well there were a lot of things i SHOULD have done, like for one...i dont have t-molding and i couldnt mount my pacman/galaga 4 way, etc.  i didnt have a router or a dremel or anything that could do what i wanted, so this time it will just have to suck a little.  i know ill build another one, so then by that time ill have a router :)

yeah i could sell that cp...i was thinking of taking off that golf swingy thing and trying to attach it to another cp.  i have clue what to hook it up to though.  anyone have a guess?  its a swinging type of spring loaded lever.  so i guess it would just like spining the spinner half way, and then releasing it.

Hulkster:  what is the exact width of the Control Panel  (the original one)
I might be interested in buying it.

whats the deal with this temporarily unavailable crap?!!?  this is really starting to piss me off.  i cant even put some pics up of my cab cuz angelfire and geocities are both the gayest web hosting places imaginable!  okay...whew...enough venting :)  whats the best way to host these pics?

anyway, Justin, about the cp....the length of it is 23 5/8"  its a werid cp though.  its metal (duh) and is like a triangular thing, hollow on the inside and basically is attached the cab by hinges and swings up to attach to the front.  understand?  http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=S&game_id=10642  there is a pic of the machine, but not a very good one, cuz it doesnt show you the bottom.  oh, and i also have the marquee as well.  its in decent shape with a few scratches.  its glued or whatever to a piece of plexiglass so you cant take it off.  but if you are really into marquees as well, i can sell that too.  just let me know!

You can either post a picture directly here or you can email one to me and I'll throw it up on my webspace. If you wanna email it to me just reply here or PM me. I don't wanna give my email out in public forums for fear of trolling mail bots.  :P

That's a nice, solid machine you've got there. And here I didn't think you knew what you were doing cuz of all the questions you had.  ;) (just kidding)

well actually dude, its not as "solid" as i would like it...structural that is.  check out this pic.  its pretty sturdy, and doesnt shake or move or anything but if i press on it real hard it bends a little.  see there is a board that is bolted real securely that is basically holding the cp, and is mounted in the very back.  so in essence, its a really long shelf.  im going to put some more support on it if i see it dipping some.  oh and if you look real close underneath the cp, you can see two big L brackets that are also giving support.
