Arcadvga and screen real estates

So I have my mame machine up and running happily everything looks golden in 640 * 480 but when ivseitch it to  800 * 600 everything expands outside of the visible screen area.

I was hoping that being a 33inch screen it would all sit nicely inside there. Will I need to adjust software to allow this or will I need to play with the pin cushion?

My monitor is a pentranic 33 in an lai showcase/ 38 inch cab
