Soft-15khz custom file for a WG D9800
« on: February 11, 2010, 11:16:42 pm »
I have a d9800 monitor in my cabinet that has been running at 800x600 since I put it in. But now Im trying to get an ACTLabs lightgun working. I can't calibrate it at 800x600, but using quickres and the default mode for 640x480 I CSM calibrate, but I can't target the bottom 2" of the screen. Accuracy is perfect at the top of the screen, but gets progressively worse as I move to the bottom.

I'm assuming it's an issue with the refresh rate. My attempts to use soft-15khz with my ATI card so far has not gone well. Anyone else using soft-kHz with one of these with or without a lightgun?

Thanks,

peterson65

i have a d9800 and my act labs guns work fine, i use soft 15khz i keep my desktop set at 640x480 and calibrate the guns on the desktop and run mame at 640x480@0 and calibrate again in the game and it works fine, i do get when the screen flashes on the top a slightly visable horizontal line but my guns are dead on in police trainer and point blank, area 51

Thanks for the reply.  I'll keep at it.  I've tried it on another PC (linux laptop) and I had the same issue.  I'll try a new PC with a nvidia card instead and see what happens.

Just curious if your guys Actlabs guns are the newer type with the detachable guns or are the older type with the gun hardwired to the VGA box?
I have the older type and could not get it working with soft15khz.

Mine is new with the detachable gun. I read in another thread to use the vendors drivers instead of microsofts. I have an old Ari card and the drivers thier support site suggested are from '08. Since then it added 800x600 is interlaced, but 720x480 and below look fine except for the position on the screen.

I have not been home very much so I have not tried the gun again or an nvidia card yet.
