Hori's Vewlix fighting stick for PS3 and 360

Hori has announced their Real Arcade Pro Premium VLX, which is pretty much a Vewlix control panel but not quite as wide.  You can apprently easily pop the top and replace it's Sanwa buttons or even remove them.  It comes with 'blanks' so that if you don't need 8 buttons, you can put it to as many buttons as you want.

It's a feature on the real machines, like this one with only one button: http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/20080801/laforet2.jpg

This reminds me of the Sega Astro City control panels Sega released for the Saturn.  It looked like someone had cut the CP off an Astro City candy cab and put Saturn adaptors on it: http://www.chewingpixels.com/astro.jpg

However this stick is going to retail for 30 000 yen, which is about $350 USD.  ...When they mean premium, they mean premium.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Yeah but you'd still need to hack it onto 360 and PS3 and I imagine that has some gaps and pointy edges at the back where it's supposed to mount to the cab.

But yeah that does put the price in perspective.

It looks very nice, but I'm not sure it's worth that high of a price.
