For those who need a small keyboard for their cabinet, either for a keyboard drawer or to fit in the coin door, I found this:



That guy is only 8.75" across, only slightly wider than a sheet of paper!  It's 4" deep and about 0.67" thick.

I bought some multimedia keyboards online for about $14.00 each. They are "mini keyboards" and look damn similar to the ones in that article.

Its basically the size of a laptop keypad......and its pretty thin....I'm going to velcro mine underneath my CP, its thin enough (and black) that you dont see it.....it has no pointing device on it, but it does have dozens of "buttons" you can hot-link to do things..like auto launch MAME or whatever....I haven't installed that software, but I plan on doing so, specifically to turn on/off the PC remotely and have a 1 button shutdown (if possible)

I saw several "multimedia" ones on eBay, some really cheap... but they all had PS/2 connections, and my control interface uses the PS/2 port, so I needed a USB solution....

Are these babies available at Comp or BestBuy?  I looked on their site but didn't see them, but then again I'm half blind.

Or does anyone know if any exist with mouse capabilities?

For my cabinet I bought one of these:

It is small form factor, about the size of a laptop keyboard. It is also wireless and has an integrated mouse. This eliminates the need to build a keyboard tray, and is easy to pull out on that occasion you need a keyboard for something. I just lay it on top, out of sight.

I like the happy hacker keyboards. Full sized keys and solid feeling. They're expensive though.

The picture doesn't do justice to just how small this keyboard is! I'm able to fit the entire keyboard in my pocket.  I'm using it now to type this message...

This keyboard would be perfect for cabinet use, i.e. entering occasional words or initials, or doing occasional maintenance.  I'd hate to have to type on it on a regular basis, though!  The construction is suprisingly solid, and the keys respond well except the space bar, which needs a good firm stroke.

Actually, as I type this message, I'm getting more and more used to the tiny size of it.  I could probably learn to live with it as a regular keyboard, too...
