Howdy-

A friend of mine is putting together an art/performance/robotic exhibit (long story) & wants to incorporate lots of old EM pinball sound effects.

It was pretty easy finding the sound effects for the Space Cadet pinball that comes with windows, & that has a few "mechanical" effects, but most are too high-tech & "electronic" for his tastes.

I figure that there must be a treasure trove of wav sound samples for Visual Pinball, PinMAME, or other purposes.

If it's not violating any copyright issues (like asking for MAME ROMs), can somebody point me to any such sound archive?

Thank you very much,
-Jason

Thanks--a little too modern for my friend's needs, but a very cool site nonetheless!

I got it all figured out, with some very generous help from a really nice guy named Max.

Here's what ya do:

1 - download & install Future Pinball from http://www.futurepinball.com/

2 - go to http://www.irpinball.org/ & download lots of old FP tables

3 - open a table (make sure to have its library installed if there is one...many require extra generic library sound files) & go into Table/Sound Manager.

4 - browse through & play the sounds & export the ones you want

5 - most sounds export as kooky .ogg format files...  =(

6 - download & install Winamp & go into Options/Preferences/Plug-Ins/Output.  Change the output to Nullsoft Disk Writer & choose a directory.  Everything you play will be written to disk as a wav file instead of played through your speakers.

7 - drag & drop your .ogg files onto WinAmp & you'll have .wav files a moment later

Ta daa!

Thanks,
-Jason

Thanks--that's a good page too--didn't quite have what my buddy was looking for, though.
