Screensaver formats

Is there any way to have Mala use videos for the screensaver attract mode when they are available, but use snaps (still images) when not?  I can clearly see in GUI/Screensaver how you can choose between Pictures and Videos, but for MAME I have videos, all other emus I have pictures/snaps. 

I want the screensaver to be gamelist specific (great option, BTW), but when I'm in something other than MAME and the screensaver kicks in, it gives a black screen with "screensaver: no vids at /".  Or, if I have a Picture path in the Video's field, it gives the same error with a proper path instead of "/".
