Anyone by any chance go watch this over the weekend in 3d? I am hoping to go some time this week. I have heard it is an AWESOME experience in digital 3d. Muppets 3D at Disney and T2 3D at Universal studios were my favorite attractions when in Orlando, so this movie should be right up my alley.

Well we went and saw this yesterday in 3d. It was a good popcorn movie, and I would have enjoyed it without the 3D on dvd. As for the 3d, I did not think it was much of an improvement over what James Cameron did with T2-3D 15 odd years ago. There were some fun points, but alot of the stuff was very blurry. It did hurt my eyes at some points. It also defeats the purpose of 3d if half of the 3d object is "out of frame".

I have heard that Peter Jackson plans on releasing King Kong in 3d, and that would be badass. I felt he intentionally filmed the movie to translate it to 3d anyways (he is one of the big pushers for RealD).

Long story short, it was a fun movie with some fun 3D stuff. It was worth seeing in the theatre, but I don't think I will see another full-length 3d movie with the same technology. It is a technology that should be limited to short 10-20 minute amusement park attractions.

Saw both of those in 2006... must have been my eyesight, because I got huge amounts of ghosting and blur for both of them.  T2 was better than Muppets but both were hard to watch.  Shrek 3D was better yet but still hard to follow.  I tried with my glasses on and off under the 3D glasses and it didn't make much difference - they are barely Rx level anyway.

Now that I think about it, it has to be my eyes.  I had problems with the the final battle in the latest Harry Potter movie too.
