mamewah and defult rom listing
« on: March 25, 2008, 04:44:32 am »
Hey...got mamewah and found when i generated a list of games it generated over 700+ of them. I don' have anywhere near this amount...how can i remove the ones showing that i don't actually have. I know i can do it individually but is there an easier way.

Also...rather than having the listing as wboy2 for example can i customise this to show WonderBoy.....

I have a few other questions but i bother everyone later with these...

Thank u guys/gals

You didn't mention which emulator you were using. But since you mentioned wboy2 i'm assuming you're using mame. The easiest way to generate a list that shows the rom name is by figuring what mame version you're using then downloading the dat file (cm) from here. Then you open you're mame.ini in mamewah's config folder. Then you modify a couple of lines:

Code: [Select]
dat_file                                  C:\juegos\mame37\MAME v0.37b16.datOf course you modify it to point to your own dat file.

Code: [Select]
list_generation_method                    rom_folder_vs_dat_file

Just want to clarify gonzo... i wish to change the listing of a particular game in mamewah to show it's full name. So instead of the listing showing the rom name ie:wboy2 i want it to show WonderBoy 2.

Will what you said change this to show the listing to be WonderBoy 2? And yes, sorry it's mame .123

Hope im making sense...just woke up.

Yes. Using a dat file will show the full name.

This will work and there is nothing wrong with doing this, but for the benefit of anyone who reads this, I do not agree this is the 'easiest' way! It depends on what version of Mame you are running but for Mame v0.123 you should set:

list_generation_method rom_folder_vs_listxml

(Note: Mame versions prior to v0.84 should use rom_folder_vs_listinfo)

I say this is easier because you don't need to download a dat file, and you don't need to do anything if you replace your mame.exe with a newer version - just refresh the list.

I can't get the XML method to work.  I can only get the dat_file method or direct list method to work.  Is there something that I need to do under mame to get the XML method to work?  Thanks.

Do you mean that you get no list gen method at all?? If so, i needed to download the xml2 file from the mamewah website to generate a list first....see if that helps.

The dat link is still up..use that till you find it. Minwah may have pulled it from his website as it was for v1.62 from memory...v1.63 is what he probably supports..will see if i can post it here for you later today. At work so will have to check back later today/tonight
