Carbon fiber CP
« on: March 07, 2008, 08:44:13 am »
I've thought I could use some laminate for the top of my panel mimicing carbon fiber. Would it be the first one?

I doubt it, and does it matter?

Nope!! some of the Japanese candy cabs already have carbon fibre style overlays. But if you like the look of it, go for it. As Malenko said... does it matter if it's been done before. Build what you like the look of. At the end of the day, it's you who's got to live with it.

It was an indirect question: I just wanted to know if you have ever seen any panel with this kind of finish (I'd like to see how the result would look like)

If you want to do it inexpensively, you can get heavy adhesive backed vinyl with a carbon fiber texture printed on the front. I bought a roll of it to cover some interior trim in my truck. It looks really nice and has been durable enough to handle the summer heat and the hands on use of being on the door pulls. Not sure if I have a pic of it, but I can look.

Im planning on covering my whole cocktail in genuine CF. My friend works as a sales rep for a company that makes CF sheet so im hoping to get a good price.

Im going to cover the CP sides etc in CF but im going to have graphics on the CP top and front.

I must admit im intrigued on the 5 button layouts on either side + the horizontal CP.

Any reason for the 5 buttons on the vertical CPs and two sets of 5 on the horizontal CP?

I would have thought 3 would have been plenty for the vertical CPs and you would probably want 6(x2) for the horizontal CP?

Or are you just a MK nut?  >:D

Why not just build it out of it?
