Wii hacking - HDD yet?

So, anything like an HDD interface for saving & playing backups/movies on the Wii yet?  Will there ever be or is the hardware not designed for such things?

so far it is the dvd drive firmware only and the motherboard bios would need to be hacked for something like that.
