I recently bought a game in which the previous owner said a friend put in a brand new monitor, because the old one went out on him.  Now what i'm trying to figure out, is this really a 'brand new' monitor, or is it just a recapped monitor?  It looks fairly clean, but the guy could have just cleaned it, it is a little dusty, probably more dusty than a 'brand new" monitor would be.  It's a WGE1972-HOGS39L.  Here's a picture as i'm not sure if these are the original chassis or not.  Just trying to see if I got a good deal or not, because it looks like a brand new monitor of this style goes for a few hundred dollars.

If you go to the Wells-Gardner website you'll see the tech section with the model decoder. You have a k7200 series monitor which has been in production about 8 years now and just recently was discontinued. Be aware there are two versions: the k7200 (early production) and it was replaced by a k7200a (later production).

This is a good model. The early production run has been out long enough to need capacitors.

Thank you Ken.  Is there any way to tell if I have the k7200 or k7200A?  Is it written somewhere on the monitor?

Also, is there any way to tell the age of the monitor?  I know you said it could be up to 8 years old, but I am trying to figure out if this was brand new when he installed it a year ago, or if he just swapped it from another game.  I can't find any type of year information on the monitor anywhere.  Thank you for your help.

Go to the Wells site and look for the serial number page. Late models like this one have the manufacturing date embedded in the serial number. They used to put a "Manufactured month/year" little white paper sticker on the metal chassis.
