Did you follow my tutorial? Great job! I don't blame you not soldering to the LED's... those surface mount points are a pain, lol.
Yeah, I pretty much took your pictures as a foundation to getting this built. I was thinking about buying a pre-made box but I figured, this is a custom stick, might as well make the box as well. I bought the Xbox 360 PC gamepad thinking I could use it on the Xbox 360 slim but once I plug in the Receiver, the xbox freezes
. It wasn't all a waste though because I found out that the actual Xbox 360 remote works with the PC as long as you have the wireless receiver which is what the pc version comes with. The best part about it, you just need one receiver to have multiple controllers and my arcade stick works perfectly along side the Xbox 360 controller on the pc. I have ordered another xbox 360 remote so I can start on another custom stick and will make some minor changes now that I know what to look for after building the first one. I remember reading somewhere, I believe in the xbox forum where the PCB contacts were posted on your thread, that the hardest part was done when they were referring to the soldering part. Seriously, as a person who never worked with wood or power tools to this extent, the soldering was cake compared to that
. Coincidently the soldering and wiring was the most enjoyable part for me.
Nice box! One suggestion though, get some black oxide allen head screws for the joystick. They would just look a lot better than the shiny slotted screws you have there now.
But hey, I shouldn't complain, my box is no where near as nice looking as yours.
Hey Thanks! Yeah, that's one thing I'll be doing for the next build
. I actually found those bolts in the garage so It saved me a trip to the hardware store. I was seriously going there like 3 times a day since I had to purchase some of the drill bits and other knick-knacks.
Oh yeah, and below is a list of what the parts I used. I read people giving the Happ Competition buttons a lot of flak but they are actually pretty nice and responsive. I used the flat vs. the concave ones because my x-arcade has concave and they actually kinda blow.
Joystick: Sanwa JLW-TM-8 Joystick + 0 Gateway
Buttons: Happ Competition (matched up to the Xbox 360 color scheme)
I was going to go with the Sanwa JLF-TM-8T-SK but as of the ordering, they were out of stock. So I went with the JLW which is SO much nicer than the X-arcade.
