Leds of doom

I heard about this yesterday and i was really pissed that i wouldnt be able to get one before they were all taken.  Apparently aqua teen had an ad campaign with circuit boards with blinking lights on then attached to everything metal in i think 10 states.  two of the signs are going for over 400 on ebay and the rest i imagine are being kept as evidence by the police.  i can see how the signs can be viewed as a terrorist threat since they used tape to hold the batteries in place but really all they do is light up and sit there so i cant see how they can that big of a deal.  aside from the batteries i is thin and cant really be a bomb.

digg link

i cant find a link to the ebay auctions they must have been closed.

heres some pics

Back in MY day we lived on the moon and we had to build a rocket ship from scratch to get to the Earth before we suffocated.

You know, this is nothing more than an off shoot than the throwies thing.
The Graffiti Research Lab has been doing this kind of thing for a couple of years. Great stuff. I understand why people might get freaked out post 9-11 and all, but sometimes I think that if the media sniffs something that could be a "big" story, then they add lots of danger and put a serious sound track behind the news coverage.

i hadnt heard about the throwies till i saw a reporter toss one of the signs against a steel door and it stuck.

the funny thing is that cnn was reporting but didnt know what they were and they are part of the same company as cartoon network.

but really 750,000 dollars to overreact to a sign.  its the same thing as graffiti.
