Youki and Atomic FE
« on: July 31, 2006, 09:31:26 pm »
I would like to take the time to thank Youki and all of the help he provides the community here.  I have noticed in the past that he has been very willing to help those here with his frontend by reading many of his posts.  Havok mentioned his plug and play modules and their ease of use.  I decided to give it a try and really liked his custom animation in the layouts.  The only problem was it was not set up for a vertical monitor.  I emailed Youki with a question about this and in less then 48 hours he made me a custom layout for my vertical monitor.  With leaning MaLa and now Atomic FE I have finally joined the ranks of frontend users here after many years of Mame32 (I still like just not very cabinet friendly).  Now I'm going to have to have both set up on my machine so I can go back and forth between them  ;D.  My many thanks to Youki  :applaud:.

Cool

You need a FE to select FE's

Well if anyone here could figure that out I would bet its you  :).

Since I only run vertical classics (and one horizontal game - Penguin Kun Wars - I'm having a blast with that game even though those little stuffed animal b****** are really pissing me off after the third wave) I think I will have both MaLa and AtomicFE on the cabinet.  Its easy enough to escape to the desktop to switch between them.

If you are serious there are many ways you could go about that.

I only run my can in vertical mode, but play some horizontal ones squeezed up (Does not affect game-play for them (Track N Field is one). I will try Penguin kun Wars after work. Is it like Pengo?

No its not like Pengo.  It has a screen that looks like a ping pong (table tennis) table.  You are a penguin on the lower side and you go up against a stuffed animal looking player on the far side (as you advance they change).  The point of the game is to throw all the balls off the table on your opponents side without getting hit.  If you get hit you fall down at which point they usualy pile on with the balls so you cannot get back up and thus lose the round (especially in the higher levels).

Penguin kun Wars

One of my favorite game too ,  It is just pity there is no 2 players simultanous mode.  I love that game.

I have a donkey kong machine, with all the graphics on it that i have set up for mame, would it be possible to get the layouts from you that you posted the thumbnails of, it would suit my purpose wonderfully!

You want just the Layout?  or you want the Plug'n play module that includes : layout, mame, and already configured to play on vertical screen?

I will put both on my website this week i think.  I was just waiting some feedback from 97thruhiker to know if the module works well.
