Mala hardware questions
« on: June 14, 2006, 04:43:56 pm »
Swindus / Loadman,
I have a few Mala hardware questions for you.

- Looking at your demo videos, I see that Mala automatically lights up buttons based on which controls are needed for each game.  (Very nice!)  When you select a game, do the buttons stay lit as you play?

- Can this feature be used with other emulators?  Lets take NES for example:  I know without something like controls.ini for NES, the buttons couldn't be lit up specifically for each game, but could you make a generic light sequence for the NES controller?  ie - lit up button 1 (A) and button 2 (B) for all NES games?

- Can you pass control.ini info to the LCD screen?  Ideally, what I would love to do is, based on the game selected, create a text based diagram on the LCD, showing what each button does... With a 4x40 LCD, something like this:

World Class Bowling
Trackball
[ Hook Left  ]  [ Hook Right ]  [            ]
[            ]  [            ]  [            ]

That would be awesome!!!!

Thanks for your help.

Yes, if you wish so.

Yes, you can set a led state for each emulator.

Yes, you can use a lot of placeholders (same as for the text fields in the layout editor) to define your lcd screens line by line. Multiple screens are possible, shown one ofter another. And you can define different lcd screens in MaLa and when running a game.

That is a great idea 'edge '.
Maybe a should swap my 2x20 for a 4x40 and do that too? Hmmmm

Swindus, you should post these screens on the website as you can't see them unless you have the hardware connected.   ;)
