Midway Game cab is junk!
« on: November 16, 2005, 09:10:23 am »
I was a Target this morning and they had one on display. Looks like it made out  the same stuff as peg board. the monitor has to be no bigger than a 10 or 13 inc TV. Controls are the same a the jakks joy sticks and buttons. It also has the same hardware as the PnP jakks games. It Looks blurry and just bad.

This thing was 499.99 and I wouldn't pay half that for it.....the controls felt absolutely terrible and it was made out of some stuff that felt slightly strong than a walmart bookshelf.  To there credit, it did seem somewhat sturdy, but not sure how long it would hold up in a kid environment.

You would think that Midway would have some standards of quality regarding products that their name gets plastered on, even if they aren't the manufacturer.

I saw it this morning and pretty much had the same thoughts.  The joysticks felt pretty unforgiving.

When I first saw these threads I thought you guys were exaggerating. I thought it simply didn't live up to arcade quality standards, but that it couldn't possibly be that bad.

I apologize. It's worse than folks are making it out to be. The game is made out of 1/4" wood, poor at that. The screen is small and reminds me of a blown up portable television. The colors are washed out and no-existent. It's almost impossible to differentiate many enemies from one another, especially in Robotron and Defender.

The controls make Jakk TV units look good. Similiar joystick, but much more imprecise. The buttons are small reproductions of Jakk buttons, but again, inferior.

There is no such thing as a Marquee. It's merely a sticker on top of wood. The entire unit looks incredibly fake and cheesy.

It's a shame too. For $500, anyone here could put together a REAL machine with those games on it with money left over.  These guys went for pure profit margin on a bargain basement item that they know isn't going to be around after the holiday season.

Pure Crap.
