umm are your config files set to 'read only' by mistake?

Other than making sure you have full read/write permissions to where ever the config files are living, also make sure that you are properly exiting MAME.  MAME writes all config options on quit, so if you do a hard power-off to your system without closing MAME first, the session settings are lost.

sorry to dig up this old thread but i recently discovered fast mame only to find it's been long dead, i think the last version was 0.98.. although finding different versions and a overall history of fastmame is hard.. not much info out there and what is out there seems to be outdated even for a dead project.

anyway you did'nt specify what version you was running im curious if it was 0.98?

i've also got 0.56 & 0.84, both of which works perfectly.

but 0.98 im having the same problems you did with it not saving button or dipswitch settings... even though it keeps writing cfg files in the cfg directory (although i've not read through them line for line) it is writing them..

i checked the default config.. read config is enabled.. i even made sure to pass it along in the cmdline but it seems to do no good.
Anyone got change for a dollar?
