CRT tester help!
« on: April 20, 2005, 11:30:15 pm »
Does anyone out there have a CR-XA universal adapter for a BK Precision CRT tester? I'm trying to build a CR-31 and CR-23 adapter for my BK 470 tester, but I can't for the life of me figure out which wires go where. If someone has a CR-XA could you please map the wire colours and locations in the connector for me so I can cross reference to my adapter chart to make my adapters correctly?

Thanks a bunch!

I'm curious to see how the 470 fares in one of these ad-hoc DIY adapters--please post back with your results....

Dandy Manufacturing makes a far superior "universal" adapter for B&K testers. It's called the "Dandy Dapter" and it's been available for years.

Dandy Manufacturing Company
Dan Randall TV Service
2323 Gibson St.
Muskogee, Oklahoma 74403
Phone: 1-800-331-9658 or (918) 682-4286

Their unit comes with several universal sockets and it does projection tv tubes, too. It comes with a tube setup/cross reference chart also.

Menace> Thanks, but I have that information from the setup book already. What that doesn't tell me is what wires go where in the connector.

Ken> I really don't want to buy an adapter, I have all the componenets to make my own, I just need to know how to wire everything. I tried to map the wires from one of my other adapters, but I didn't have much luck.

ok--if I'm understanding you right you have the 470 pinout (i.e. what color wire has what function) but not the cr-23 pinout?

here's my thread:

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=35351.0

inside is the cr-23 pinout, the corresponding function of each pin on the crt and a link to the B&K manual showing what each wire on the 467/470 does--so between the two you can corss reference and make up the adapter.

For everyone's information, this is taken directly from the "FAQ" on bkprecision.com

"Do you still supply CRT adapters for your older rejuvenators?

Yes, B&K Precision's Parts and Documentation department sells 'CR' adapters and Set-up Charts for models 467 through the 490B".

So the oldest unit they provide adapters for is the 467 (30 years old). The 467 is still a great unit and I use mine all the time.

I know what each wire on the CR-23 is supposed to do, what I do not know is what the pinout on the connector on the tester is. The 470 does not have the same connector for the adapters as the 466 does.

According to the 466 to 467/490 conversion instructions this is the pinout on the tester side of the cable for the 467/470/480/490:

1 Heater
2 Heater
3 G1 red
4 G1 green
5 G1 blue
6 K red
7 K green
8 K blue
9 G2 red
10 G2 green
11 G2 blue
12 G3, G4 (focus)

Connector is Molex # 03-06-2122
Pins are Molex # 02-06-2132
