PC Auto Mag: World's Best Light Gun
« on: September 03, 2004, 10:51:09 am »
I was looking around for light guns for my cab(i'm very pissed act-labs discontinued theirs!) and found this gun http://www.softwareoutlet.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=S&Product_Code=4506. Has anyone ever tried this gun? Does anyone know if this gun is any good? If not what alternatives do u suggest? Thanks!

I read somewhere on here that that one sucked. . . not sure where I read it though.  In the discontinued thread, someone said the act-labs guns were still available here: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=10884&promoid=0 or there's always E-bay.

Otherwise, I would probably recommend the Lik-Sang PC Virtual gun which is reviewed at retroblast http://www.retroblast.com/reviews/lightgun1.html  (GSXR Movistar also had a fairly good review of it, but his site seems to be down.)

I have one of these, it work pretty good in some games and not so good in others. It was cheap enough, so it was worth it to me.  It seemed to work good in games like Lethal Enforcer,  One shot one kill and a few others I tried.

the pc auto mag is junk (except for the 2 include games)...

Although the act labs usb light gun is only marginally better, IMHO =)

My Act-Labs is really accurate on most games.
There are a few where it has some issues.
I don't think they could make it any more accurate than it is.

When the hell did that happen? >:( I missed that completely! Where can you get them now? Their site says "take it out of your cart!". I see that one went for $50 on eBay last week.

I never got around to getting one. I didn't expect them to go away. I bet there was some hubub here about it but I wazn't paying attention I guess. I need this like a hole in the head.

Oh well. At least now I can shop for something without that silly raygun style.

Oh.... there's the hubub: http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=23885

Damn shame that Bio Gun is so damn bad. It looks JUST like a Sega Stunner/Virtua Cop/HOTD gun. Perfect for a cab. =(

Take note.

10 bucks for 2 decent / good arcade conversions is great!  Consider getting it for the games themself.

What do you mean 10 bucks for 2 decent arcade conversions? Do you mean actual arcade guns?

No, he means the game comes with PC versions of House of The Dead and Virtua Squad 2.
