Looking for .187 female disconnects in Ontario
« on: April 10, 2004, 07:17:29 pm »
Just checking to see if anyone here knows where to get the .187 (or 3/16) female disconnects here in Ontario, specifically southern ontario.   I went to HD and all they have are the .250 disconnects, and none of the two guys working in the electric aisle could point me in a direction to where I could find them.   I know that I could always go the route of ordering them from the states, but I'd like to get started on the wiring early this week, and the disconnects are all that stands in the way of me and a kick-ass game of Exciting Hour...

Any suggestions or places that you know of that have them (other than radio shack) would be greatly appreciated!

Peale is really good at getting stuff here to Ontario, or you can just use the .250's and crimp them down.  I've done about 15 panels with the .250's, so I know they work.  True, it's nice to have the "real" ones, but the HD specials are pretty cheap and a good alternative..  Even the new minipac comes with .250's  Just use one of those el cheapo yellow handle crimpers and just crimp down the middle fin so that it catches on the hole in the microswitch tab.
Back for nostalgia, based on nostalgia.

Well if you go to the auctions at starburst. Across the street is the donut shop just a little north of it is a little strip plaza. There is a little hole in the wall electronics shop in the back is connectors I got 100 for eight dollars. And they are the right size. Also the shop deals in new and used electronic anything. They have tons of cool stuff in there.
Curls in the squat rack !?!?!

Where abouts in Southern Ontario do you live?  As there's a place in Hamilton called "Chadwicks Electrical".  There a electrical supply shop for various industral companies.  They're located on Nebo Rd between Stone Chruch and Rymal.

They have .187 connects as well as many other items.

Thanks

Hey there,

If you live anyway around Burlington, Mississauga or Waterloo...check out Sayal Electronics. I've been building electronic projects for years and they've always stocked the bits-&-pieces I'm looking for. They are a walk-in surplus and NOS  store...great prices too! I can't say for sure whether they'd have the connectors you're look for, but my best guess is that they would. Here's a link to their website...not much but it will guide you to their store locations:

www.sayal.com

Hope this helps!

I can vouch for peale's service--excellent!!  I checked sayal before and they didn't have .187 when i was there.  So either go to the place edgedamage mentioned or order from peale (don't worry it comes across as a "gift"--no duty ;))
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

I went to HD and all they have are the .250 disconnects, and none of the two guys working in the electric aisle could point me in a direction to where I could find them.

I've used the fully-insulated .250 disconnects from HD and they actually work fine.  Maybe 1 in 10 I've had to take pliers to in order to make them tighter.
What was that again?

I can confirm that Sayal in Waterloo has .187s...that is where I get a lot of my cabinet building stuff.  Nice place and decent prices (although I forget how much the .187s were...).
