Forum menu header has changed
« on: January 05, 2016, 08:51:40 am »
The forum menu header has been reorganized. Things may be in new places.

Support has been split into two categories - Software Support, and Frontend Support.

Maximus and Mala forums have been moved into the Frontend Support categories.

Comments/feedback welcomed!

Saint, huge thanks to you for keeping maintaining this site and keeping it fresh.

I have one trivial suggestion:

Swap the positions of "Submit news" and "Unread posts"

I'm just one of those guys that constantly uses "Unread posts" to catch up on everything and it was convenient having it right on the end.
If you can read this, it means Photobucket's money grab ruined my signature photos.

tuck meet up as a sub of EE so that Site News doesn't sit on its own row. Pi  Dev seem out of place in that row, maybe swap it with restorations but put it at the bottom of the second column.

Agreed on Meet Up. It rarely gets used, anyway.

The two new software forums just dump me to the forum index.

Nevermind, I misunderstood what you meant.  I'm a tad bit confused by the grouping though.... so there's a frontend support and software support and they are in their own sections, but we still have a software forum in the main section?  Are all of those needed?

My 2 cents......  half of the forums in the software support section are dead or on life support.  Then again what do you do with them? Maybe things need worded differently?

I guess it's whatever the people who wrote the software want.

How hard would it be add the drag and drop function for photos, some forums have where you just copy the photo and click paste on the post and it automatically uploads and shows the photo.

I know over the years i've not posted as much documentation due to having to upload to the photo thread then paste the link again in the active post.

Just a thought...

^^  What he said.

Also I'm sure you are aware, but none of the code buttons work in Microsoft Edge.  Mind you there aren't a lot of things that work properly in Edge, I really wish they'd finish the thing because it's really fast and especially virus resistant, but what are ya gonna do.

Over at the SMF Forums, several people like these guys have done a little work on drag-and-drop mods over the years, but AFAIK there aren't any that made it to the official SMF Mod Site here.

The closest mod there is Post and PM Inline Attachments.

There appears to be a 3rd party dev site here that sells an HTML-5 drag-and-drop-files-to-the-attachment-box mod, but no idea how reliable/reputable/secure it is.   :dunno
