Act Labs USB light gun not reloading in Area 51.
« on: December 26, 2003, 09:52:11 am »
Hey all...I got an Act Labs PC usb light gun for my MAME cabinet for Christmas!  It's working great for games like Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley but I can't get it to reload properly in games like Area 51 and Maximum Force.  It seems if I shoot offscreen it doesn't do anything...however if I shoot in the extreme corner it will reload...but it's rather difficult.  I'm using Windows XP Professional and MAME32.  Anyone have a fix for this???

It's not the gun.  MAME reloads on Area 51 by shooting the very edge of the screen instead of off screen.  However, news on the front page of this site indicates the newest MAME version has adressed this issue with other alternatives.

Mame: Analog+ has a built-in fix that allows you to shoot offscreen normally.

I did not know that.  Weird.  Wild.

I'll have to check that out.

As far as installation, I seem to remember just dropping MAMEANALOG.EXE in the same folder as MAME.EXE and using it instead... there are additional .ini options, though, to handle things like dual lightguns or dual trackballs.
