history in MaLa
« on: June 03, 2014, 04:46:00 am »
hi,
I configured the location of the history.dat file in MaLa.
How do I see the history of a game?
Pressing 'H' in MaLa doesn't trigger any event..

Thanks
AC

The key is configurable

Right click on the screen in mala

Choose OPtions/config
Then click the Controller tab, Keyboard, advanced.

Check the "Info Open/Close" option, set it to H or whatever key you want to open the info/history window.

found it, thanks.
Doesn't do what expected though: if I press 'H' (I set it up that way) a window with a 'Hi Score' label pops up instead of the game history.
Can my history.dat be corrupted?

That I'm not sure about. I know there are patches to Mame to support High score, maybe that has something to do with it. Or are you running some additional app to show high scores?

In standard Mala, Alt will display the History window, and once it's showing, space will flip between pages (to show history, control panel, marquee, etc).

Well I'm running a vanilla installation of MaLa. I just changed the layout to "nanocade".
I'll look deeper tonight and see what I can get to..

Did you refresh the main game list after applying history dat location and then import the metadata to your custom game lists?

good day.

I found the arcanum: in the history window, you can 'scroll' right and left to show a snapshot, a picture of the control panel, or the 'hi scores' table.
For some reason, when pressing 'H' (the trigger for the history window) I get prompted directly with the hi score table.
Is there a way to default the window to the actual game history?
Thanks

I did a little digging and didn't turn up anything to control what page comes up initially in the info window.

I'll have to poke around a little more

I do know you CAN set things so that instead of the info window, Mala will launch whatever you have defined as the "Control panel viewer" when you press the info/history button.

THat might be another alternative for you to check out.

In settings you can reorder, delete and add new info windows. Hi scores comes up first because that's the order that is set in settings.

good day.

Well, damn, Learn something new everyday. I had no idea you could customize that.
