Large Screen Big Buck Hunter Pro
« on: December 23, 2012, 04:53:51 pm »
New here!

Looking to build a large screen version of Big Buck Hunter Pro.  I have gotten a hold of the loaded motherboard including processor, memory and HDD preloaded with BBHP.  I also got the gun.  I can wire up the unit by following the schematics but where can i get the two internal pcb boards listed on the schematics?  One is a jamma board (are these universal?) Not sure what the other board is.

Really hard to answer without more info than that.  Can you link the manual to this thread?

Big Buck Hunter Pro does not use a mother board.   It has a jamma to USB and serial interface board but the main work is done by a PC that the HDD connects to.  There are 2 boards for the light guns and you need a CRT type monitor.   LCD or PLASMA will not work so to go larger than the 27 inch CRT monitor that comes in the cab you will need a larger CRT monitor.

I was looking to use a projector like they have at BassPro shops.

Well the OEM pc motherboard i bought was cheap, so no biggy there.  I am curious if the generic USB jamma boards available on ebay and other sites would work.

Does this mean all HD monitors are out?  DLP TVs and DLP Projectors maybe?  I have a 65" Optima that needs a purpose!

All projectors or rear projection are out as it has to be a CRT monitor.  Sorry don't know anything about the generic usb jamma boards available on ebay.

Just trying to learn this stuff here.  Why do the guns require the CRT monitor and how did they get past that on the new HD models w/LCD monitors?  Thanks for the help guys, hopefully I can get it all figured out and working!

http://www.howstuffworks.com/question273.htm

For guns that work on LCD screens they use this tech. i.e. this gun http://www.ultimarc.com/aimtrak.html that uses infrared triangulation for aiming purposes.

good day.

My ultimate plan would be to use an airsoft rifle modified with the oem optics but still use a CO2 cartridge so that the gun has a "realistic " feel.  If any of you have been to the virtual ranges at gander mountain you'd understand where i want to go with this idea.
