It looks good, although I would stick those start buttons someplace more out of the way, just so you have room to expand later. Going by your scale you could easily add a 4-way to the left of the 1st joystick and a trackball or spinner to the right of the last joystick.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

I really don't want to be rude or anything but how about using "project announcements" to let us have a look at your project when it's more than just a scribble on a bit of paper?
I'm sure I'll get told off for that comment but dude it's just not that interesting yet.

I understand.
But it not much of a project announcement if its done. IMO
Just be glad I didn't try to submit it as news.
(wonder if that has happened?)

I have thought about those options but, I reviewed what games I would play the most and just don't need a spinner or trackball right now.

I would like to get a 4-way but I am on a tight budget.

I may in time replace the top panel and include those things, or make part of it modular.  But I don't really see that happening soon.

I don't mind when people post plans up in the Project Announcement Forum.   After all, he is announcing a project.  Feedback, I'm sure, is what he wants before cutting wood.  And besides, at least he didn't post in the main forum.

As for the control panel -- good plan but if you're not going to be adding anything else to that I'd lop off a couple of inches, especially for a desktop controller.  Besides you can always make different ones for different needs in the future.

I think it looks pretty good.
Maybe ditch the P2 credit button (unless there is a particular alternating 2 player game that requires it) and put a couple "pinball" buttons on the side.
Good luck.

I always see these pinball buttons on peoples cabinets. What software are you playing pinball with? All the pinball titles in Mame are broken in one way or another (usually they have graphics layer priority issues).

It is going to be made to fit on the slide out keyboard tray. I had realized that I could squeeze 2 players worth of controls in that space. But I don't want to be buddy-buddy with whomever I am playing.

I use it in mamewah and for kicking my wifes behind in frogger.

Here is a pic of my Computer desk.  I still haven't decided on any kind of artwork or paint for it but I am going to get it to match the blue glass.

Thats why I didn't include them I just don't play those games or have any other need for buttons on the side.

Paige,
Try this site for Virtual Pinball.
http://irpinball.ztnet.com/
It's pretty much a one stop shop for the older model pinball table recreations.
There are hundreds available on the site as well as all of the software required to play them.
Virtual PinMame however covers most of the newer, digital age, pinball machines that require roms.
The roms are sometimes hard to come by but they are out there (sounds familiar?).
Enjoy
Z ;)
