xBox 1- arcade emu with trackball that "really" works?
« on: December 18, 2011, 11:58:59 am »
Howdy-

I finally found a trackball that works (xArcade) with my arcade emu of choice, CoinOps3 which uses multiple emulator cores.  The issue is that the trackball seems to take input as directional data fine but doesn't really work for speed.  In other words, If I'm playing Centipede and I move the trackball to the right super slow or super fast, my ship moves the same speed.  The speed seems to be set as some combination of speed and sensitivity in the analog control setup.  The same is true for my Griffin PowerMate USB spinner.

Since CoinOps is really a really nice front end for other emu cores that have been artfully tuned and tweaked for the best performance on the old xBox  for any give title, I want to explore if there is some standalone arcade emu that has "real" trackball speed support. If we can find one that works with the correct speed, it might be helpful.

With so many versions kicking around, I wound't even know where to start:

  • MAME-X
  • MAMEdOX
  • MAMEoX
  • MAMEox128 plus
  • many versions of Final Burn

Thanks in advance!
