Maximus Arcade Marquee reimage needed
« on: October 10, 2010, 06:31:17 pm »
Gang,

I've got a cabinet in great shape.. It was a Gauntlet Legends Arcade and was stripped down by previous owner... The side art and more is 98% perfect for a 12 year old cabinet... Now, the marquee is missing and more, but... I would like to use the FREE MaximusArcade marquee provided on its website... The one with the arcade cabinets showing with the logo... here is my problem...

My physical dimensions are:  23.5" wide x 15.5" tall.

I think the Marquee from MA is longer then 23.5", but this isnt a big deal, it's the height...  I need someone to reimage this thing so it doesn't look "stretched" or "malformed" for me.  Any takers?

I asked Snaaake, and still waiting a response...

I contacted :gameongrafix.com (aka mamemarquees.com) and Scott stated he could print it fine, but would need black bars on top/bottom... I don't want this unless I must...

Does anyone think the free MA marquee can be resized and kept proportional?

Thanks so much!

here is the link:  just scroll down to Marquees and its the first/top one showing.

Snaaake replied... bummer, only the MA logo and a little bit of the arcades would show...

Anyone have any ideas on this crazy square/rectangle type Gauntlet Legends marquee space?

Thanks

Hi Delus...

I think the one it comes in is fine.... Snaaake was able to get me my dimensions, but it only showed the MA logo and a very small amount of the arcade cabs in that marquee.

This Gauntlet Legends marquee area is crazy large.... 15.5" tall and 23.5 wide....

Thanks!!!

This is the mini version of the marquee MA has for free... I'm just curious if it can even be made to my specs above.

My dimensions are more boxee??? then this longer thinner provided by Mameseer...

Any ideas?

Here is a picture of my cabinet... keep in mind that it was gutted by previous owner, so I'm left with a fantastic, well built cabinet, that's ready for anything I want.

See the Marquee space on this cabinet?  It's more like a small rectangle/box.   Very large... I just have an empty space there, but all glass and light included.   I'm also rebuilding the control panel top.

Cabinet uses a 27" CRT, so it's nice and wide!

Thanks all for any help.

in those dimensions the graphic looks horrible. Is there any way you can get the .psd file from the MA creator? Or maybe recreate the cab graphics then add the effects and logo? The way it is won't work.

Yeah, I agree, the arcades would look strange centered with all that extra space.  How about using something like this and then adding arcade elements?  I've resized it to your dimensions.  I'll see if I can mock something better up.  Stay tuned.

delusional...do you have the cabs separate from the logo? maybe we can recreate the marquee.

How about this one? I stretch it to your dimensions then made it smaller for this preview. This is how it will actually look.

No, I don't have those cabs in the marquee.  I only have access to the ones that are from the front end.  It's a photoshop file that's available for download in the freebies section.  In order to get those you may want to e-mail mameseer.  It's possible he has the marquee in .psd format.  Then it will easy to move things around for the bigger marquee.

On another note, I downloaded the .34d file that was available in the freebie section of the arcade used in the front end.  It requires Cinema 4D to open it.  A demo version is available on the internet to view it and it can output graphics (640 x 480 max in the demo).  It's a bit small but it may be suitable as a small part of the marquee graphics.  I'll have to play with it and see.

thanks but i found this one a while back so I take no credit for it. all i did was impose the logo on top of the original which looks blurry because of the size change. We're all here to help out.

Gametech... what's the theme of your control panel?  You best bet is to match the background of that CP overlay.  For example, mine is blue lightning, so I made the background of my marquee match.  Then I added elements to make the marquee more interesting.

Hey, also found something that may be useful to recreate the marquee that you wanted to print.  You can find arcade models (already built) using Google's Sketchup.  You can then move the arcade in 3D to the angle you need, then export it as a jpg into Photoshop.

Look here to see what I mean:

Hey Delus,

Yes I know what you mean, I really need to decide on a "theme".  Since the side art on my gauntlet is in such good shape I really don't want to redo it or change it.  It basically shows a fighter characters, kinda like Dead or Alive type... possible King of Fighters style...  I think a marquee with MA logo in the middle, with possible more added would do it ok enough.

This is difficult!!  LOL

Thanks for the links

I'm now liking this post Delusional.  Thanks for resize to my demensions.... Is there anything else you think would "add" this this somewhat plain, yet perfect marquee?  Maybe Pacman, Donkey Kong Mario, and the Donkey Kong ape, plus a Solar Warrior guy and qbert or maybe galaga ship added to the corners?

Thanks.  Also once I get this more in line with my time/space in garage, I will be offering some free hardware to those that help me out.. (example: free HDD or new mouse, or LCD, etc).  I dont mind giving gifts to those that help me out.

Thanks again

Delusional,

I took your image, and printed it out via poster style...then taped it together and place on my cabinet.  Here is what it looks like in B/W.   Do you think the MA logo should be bigger?  Or keep it the same and add some characters around it? (pacman, ghost, donkeykong, qbert, solar warrior, etc)?

Thanks so much!!
