WG K7000 - wobbles - couple issues - SOLVED
« on: March 23, 2010, 11:05:54 pm »
Hi all,

First of all, I'm a newb, so please take it easy on me! I read all topics related to this issue but alas...

I have identified ( please confirm , see attachement ) my monitor chassis as a WG K7000 ( no remote assembly ) . I'm using a J-Pac with an Nvidia 7300GS + Soft15Khz .

issue 1

picture fades to dark from the center on to the left of the tube.  ( see pics ) From what I'm reading, a cap kit should fix this. no biggie, I'm good at soldering.

issue 2

the picture wobbles / waves , distortion gets gradually worst going towards the left side of the screen. see the following videos ( need to be rotated 90' ... sorry )

From what I read on this forum , the wobbling can be caused by bad caps , grounding problems, or surrounding  EMFs . so I did the following to try to eliminate a some possible issues.

- moved the cabinet
- connected to another circuit breaker
- moved the internal PC hardware out/away from the CRT. ( see attachment )
- connected a ground wire straight from the inlet ground to the chassis ground

none fixed it. Do it means it's caps too ? main filter cap ?  flyback ?

Does anyone have any tips that can help solve this ?

Thanks !

Standard cap kit should clear that up.

Main filter cap. (does not come in cap kit, order separately)

Also measure the B+ voltage, too low will cause that a bit.....but I would do that after the caps are replaced.

Bob Roberts is AWESOME. My buddy ordered a flyback kit from him late in the day on a Tuesday, and it arrived on Thursday noon time. Now THATS fast.
Man, will my cab EVER be finished?

YES ! YES ! YES !

I installed a new cap kit and filter cap I got from Bob Roberts. Everything is perfect ! No more wobble, dark side, and it also fixed the finicky startup issue.

It was pretty obvious that many caps has been replaced in the past, but not all. There was also some stuff soldered under the PCB that got me worried, but  post  http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=45742.0 had already covered that.

Thanks for your help, guys !

now, on to a simpler issue, this cabinet needs some cup holders....
