Dirty PAINTING problems!!! ARRRGH!

Okay, so I'm having the worst possible time painting the metal parts of my arcade cabinet.  First off, I've had more bugs decide to play "tar pit" in my coin door, and "oh nice doggie, please put your shedded hair in my paint job too" problems...  I need a friggin clean room to do this in.

So I sand and paint again... twice.  Finally, I take my painting to the cellar.  After spraying them down (Rustoleum Gloss Black) I notice that the coin door parts (thicker metal than the trim / marquee retainers) look like a wrinkle paint job.  

Then, all of a sudden Mr. Clean and the Turtle wax turtle AND the scrubbing bubbles start attacking me!  I realize I'm just goofy from the paint fumes...  so I light up a cigarette and chill with the little guys.  Anyway, it turns out that water condensed on the coin door parts while I was spraying them?  Is that what happened?  Too cold in the cellar eh?  I take the stuff topside and let it dry, as being in the cellar for two hours wasn't long enough to get them non-tacky.  (I'm really guessing cellar=humid at this point.)  So now I have a good "non-buggy or dog hairy" paint job, but it is all bubbly.  Do I keep it (it really is kinda cool) or do I sand / spray AGAIN, or do I just try another coat of paint to smooth out the wrinkles?

Save yourself a ton of agrivation and have the things powder coated.

Another good reason WHY you should always use laminate for this kind of project.
Maybe frosty could help you with paint(see his work ?).

If you dont mind the way it looks, use it.  If you hate the way it looks, just sand out the bad parts and put over a few more layers...if the paint is relatively thick (like one of those appliance-grade enamels that goes on kinda thick) you can get away with murder

Note: You can also consider the krylon sprays that have textures on em, like the hammered metal paint...that really covers up flaws as it lays down an actual texture as it dries....

Another coat will not help the situation.

I was/am having the same problem refurbishing my star wars yoke.  The wrinkling can be due to moisture and or not shaking your can of paint enough (solvent can seperate from the pigment).

If you want it smooth ya got ta sand sand sand!

Ok so I just put another coat on and it looks frigging cool!  It's somehow made this cool texture that looks like little pencils have squiggled through it all over.  A very neat deal.  I'll post a pic when it dries (if it stays like that.)

way to adapt and overcome (hopefully) by going with the mistake/flow a bit... I had accidently over shot my roll when painting my speaker shelf/grating thingie for my cabinet and got some sand on the roller... which I then accidently rolled on to the wood... After letting out a $#%^@
I got my tai chi together and added some more sand and rolled the heck out of it until it was evenly disbursed for a "real" texture...   Nobody really fondles that part of the cabinet, so I doubt anyone notices  --> but it did come out kinda cool for a mistake... if I was doing some sort of weird faux finish for a house type project I'd consider trying it intentionally -> trading spaces style.
