Spy Hunter Van light
« on: March 14, 2003, 09:54:38 am »
Just placed my Happ order.  Sheesh...those parts really add up.  Over $500.  The suspense is killing me.  I'm finally going to build my first full-size arcade machine.  So...here's my question:

Among the other parts I ordered I got a large, round, red illuminated push button.  I plan on making a label for it that says VAN.  Can anyone guess what it's for  :P ?  Here's my question.  Has anyone managed to make the Scroll Lock LED blink in Spy Hunter in time with the weapons van becoming available?  I'm already planning to use the NUM LOCK and CAPS LOCK for illuminated 1 player, 2 player buttons.

wow, 500 bucks?  you must have gotten everything in the amusement section ;)

No idea about the blinking/timing issue, but I do know the VAN button was originally rectangular in shape, might matter if you're going for total authenticity.  post pics when you get it done!  and good luck and have fun building :)

Yeah...it won't be real authentic.  I'll be using a Logitech MOMO force steering wheel so authenticity is already out the window (too bad MAME doesn't support force feedback  :'( )  I just thought the round button would look better mounted on the panel next to my steering wheel than a square button.  Thanks for the encouragement.  I'll document (with photos) the entire construction process and make a website for it when it's finished.
I owe much to 1UP.  I'm stealing the majority of my design from Pac-Mamea.  He is incredibly generous with his designs and blueprints.  I find it ironic that he sells the Ultimate Arcade plans on his website in one breath and in the next gives away the superior Pac-Mamea plans for free.  Good guy!  ...now if he can just be coerced into making the rest of his 3D studio files available... ;)

Very cool idea.  I wish  I could help you with the technical side of things, but it's way out of my league.  I'm with you in spirit!

Heh  :)   I appreciate the sentiment.  I'm sure it'll be figured out sooner or later.  If not by me I'll find help.  I've already laid down $6.00 or so for the big illuminated pushbutton.  I can't let that go to waste.  There are people starving all over the world... ;)
