Where to find NEW replacement monitor chassis?
« on: January 09, 2003, 04:01:17 pm »
I'm about to do some tube swapping to fix up some of my older burned in/fuzzy/color shifted tubes with tubes from old TV's.

However, at the same time, I realize the quality of the G07 and K46xx boards are not the greatest and suffer from various problems (curving, noisebars, ec..) and of course are old (component wear as well as technology staleness)

For a while on eBay someone was selling new chassis with full control over all geometry/color/cutoff/etc.. for both low and high resistance yokes (you furnish the yoke from the TV set).  These appeared to be Chinese imports and commonly used in new video poker machines/etc..

These auctions are no longer on eBay and all I find are "as is, untested" old G07 or other stuff that I'd like to upgrade from anyway.

Does anyone know of reliable sites on the net (google doesnt turn up much) that have 100% BRAND NEW replacement chassis for a fair price (e.g. ~$60 ish + fair shipping) which is what these were going for on eBay?

A few people are still listing "TV's with arcade chassis installed" but you get the whole tube and TV shell, just with a new arcade chassis in. Price is reasonable..$130 or so, but why pay the price+ shipping on the tube and shell if you don't need them?  They must be getting the new chassis from somewhere---and I'm wondering where that may be from?

Thanks in advance!

Has anybody actually tried on of these things?  It looks like a cool concept, go buy a cheap 25" tv at the Goodwill and convert it....

I contacted him today with the specs on my 27" arcade monitor. He said his chassis would work on it. For the 27" it is 90.00 plus 8.00 shipping.

I bought the monitor at an auction for 7.50 if a 100.00 chassis would make it work it sure would be a good deal.

Am considering ordering this weekend. Will keep all advised.

Anxious to see how this worked out.  Would the picture be like an arcade?

Unfortunately I hooked it up wrong and fried the board. Victor was helpful but I haven't managed to fix it yet. If I could complain about anything it's the lack of documentation. If it's not on that Web Page your not going to see it. So buy accordingly.
