omni-stick installation (?)
« on: August 10, 2004, 04:53:17 pm »
I have an omni-stick basic that I want to mount flush.  So far I haven't been able to take it apart and I can't figure out how to mount it.  Anyone know what I need to do?

If you have a metal CP, you just need to take it apart.

Otherwise, easiest solution is to get the mounting plate from http://www.groovygamegear.com/cgi/surfshop/shop.cgi?ud=REc4UjMyTFAwWiUlJSUlJTEwOTIyMjI5OTYA&storeid=1&cols=1&categories=0029&&c=detail.htm&itemid=AOMNIBLK for $12.50, but you still need to take it apart.

Other options would be to mount it to a metal plate on the top of the panel, or this previous suggestion from Snowbird:

I would like to jump in and say the the Suzo (STC) 500 can be mounted on a wood panel fairly easily:
- Drill a 1 3/4" hole 1/4" to 1/2" deep from the bottom of the panel with a Forstner bit (be careful not to drill through the panel).
- Drill a second concentric hole 1" or 1 1/8" diameter through the panel.
- Those 2 holes should create perfect a cavity for you to mount the STC 500 from the bottom (you have to remove the handle to fit it through the panel).
From the top you will only see the smaller 1" hole which if you prefer, can be covered by a plastic washer (like Happs).

As far as taking it apart, OSCAR has some pics here: http://www.oscarcontrols.com/suzo500/  I know it uses Snap Rings rather than E-clips, so you might need snap ring pliers to take it apart.

You could also E-mail RandyT at www.groovygamegear.com for more info.

Huge thanks
