Newbie Question - Light Guns
« on: June 18, 2004, 03:37:09 pm »
First off, greets all. Glad there is a forum to learn as much as I can about the BYOAC community.

I am currently working on my first cabinet (still in initial stages, drawing up the plans) and I was wondering about light gun support. A lot of the posts I read say that Mame only supports one gun, haven't found any that say it supports to. Someone want to clarify this for me?

Thanks, hope to talk to some of you soon!

Check Kevin's site out for an overview of different options.

The official MAME now has a commandline option (you can edit it in mame.ini or mame32.ini) to use dual lightguns:
dual_lightgun

Also, MameAnalog+ allows for 2 lightguns (using a different method which is probably better):

I am unsure if these work well or not.  Maybe someone can chime in who uses 2 lightguns.

This is only for actlabs' TV lightgun, and does not work with the PC lightgun.  And the TV lightguns must be setup correctly.

If you use MameAnalog+'s multiple lightgun feature, make sure you disable the official mame's.

Not as good as the arcade, but they work [shrug].  I'm a little bias, so won't say more unless there are questions.

BTW, another option is NoNameMame; it includes Analog+ features.

Thanks for the info!  I actually am considering buying another usb act labs gun.  Am I correct in thinking they will work in analog+/noname in winxp?
