MOMO RACING FORCE FEEDBACK WHEEL
« on: June 17, 2004, 09:00:14 pm »
Does anyone know how to loosen up the MOMO wheel when using games?  Currently out of the box it is really kinda tight.  Is there anyway at all to get a smooth spin with this wheel?  I find it hard to believe with all the praise in all the reviews this wheel got that a simple adjustment to loosen up the wheel doesnt exist.  The settings in windows do not seem to help at all.  Can someone help me?  Thanks guys!

they are 270 steering wheels I believe (cant turning it to the left more then one rotation).

Most arcade driving games are 360 (free spinning).  These are really closer to a mouse or spinner... And are usually hacked that way.

most 270s really don't do well with 360 games.  I've heard of people getting them to work... but it was basically ripping all the guts off the back, adding an encoder wheel, and attaching a hacked mouse to the side.

So the only solution for you might be desgroying your momo... and I think they have a lot of resale value on ebay.

You should lconsider looking on ebay for a poleposition steering wheel and putting it on your system instead.

btw, I plan on selling two 360 steering wheels on the buy/sell/trade this weekend.

Most arcade driving games are 360 (free spinning).

Not any more.

Pretty much all new driving games are 270 wheels, and have been that way for a decade or so.  In fact, in mame the amount of 270 games out number the amount of 360 now (happened around 0.60, plus or minus 10 versions or so).

There are more classic arcade games with 360 wheels, of course.  And most of my favs are 360.  Shows how old I'm getting. ;)

have you checked out the logitech driver settings?

from memory (haven't used mine for a while), I think you can release the tension of the force in 1% decrements when playing games that support force feedback,

If you are playing non-force feedback games, simply unplug the power to the unit and leaving only the USB connected.  Loosens it plenty (if I recall correctly).  ;D
