Those with a Happ rotary optical please read

I need to know which pin is which on the PCB connector.
the opto-pcb has the same circuitry of the trackball one but the layout is different...

Facing solder side with connector at the top, which pin is which from left to right?

Ya thats what I want to know too,

Looking at Ultimarc website under the opti-pac diy optical sensor page there is a diagram for a happ optical pcb.

Don't know if these are the same for the optical joystick, but most proberly are.

Talking about rotary joystick has anybody got it connected up to the i-pac with another joystick (non happ), so you can use any of them.

Do you mean the pins are connected differently?  If the pins are the same, then I can look at my trackball & let you know.

That on the rotary joystick is different in that it has the connector on solder side and I fear the pin order may be reversed.

I took the pcb and with the aid of a multimeter I tried to figure out myself which pin is which. Pin 2 from the left (facing solder side with connector at the top) goes to two 150 ohm resistors and from there to two of the four sensor terminals, so this pin is likely to be the +5v one. If this is correct, then pin 3 will be ground. Anyway, I'd like someone to confirm this.

Happ part number for the opto-pcb is currently A052-1010-00. Mine has number A049-1010-00 because it's a NOS stick I won on ebay (for only $10!). However, I don't think it makes any difference...

I have 2 Happs Optical Sticks. And YES, the pins in that image are correct.

Wires are:

Red: X1
Orange: GND
Brown: +5
Yellow: X2

I fail to see why they choose orange for gnd and brown for +5v   but anyway...

I think you have the gnd and +5v wires backwards.  I just got my joysticks last week and I just checked the wiring on them and the brown is the ground and orange is +5.  Perhaps they changed the colors at some point?

that last post is wrong... i got it right from happs site but its wrong.  I fried a board using it.    This is the correct wiring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  notice brown is ground!!  not 5v like happs site says.
