IPAC VALUE EDITION?
« on: May 30, 2004, 04:14:48 pm »
Hey all

I am looking to get an Ipac an I came across this one on Ultimarcs site, can anyone explain to me the pro's and con's of this one over the regular Ipac2.  Its going to be for a 2 player cabinet.  Any help would be appriciated.

Jason

I don't see anything called "value edition" on the Ultimarc website.  Can you paste a link to the specific product you are talking about?

If you read the ad, you can notice all of the stuff that's not included.

It's a USB device, so it's a no no for DOS.

It has no cable, but it's a standard USB cable, you can get those easily at any computer store. probably you have those laying around at home.

It uses RAM, so, if you have a special combination of keypresses you need to upload them everytime you turn on the pc, before playing.

it has no manual or cd.

Well I think the biggest prob is that's USB and has RAM.
but if your gonna use windows It's ok, anyways just put the config uploader in your startup folder and forget about programming stuff.

It pretty much takes everything that is good about the ipac and gets rid of it.

Splash out and buy the proper Ipac, or better yet get a jpac just in case you ever want to hook up a proper arcade monitor.

No, they're talking about the I-PAC VE.

Personally, the fact that it uses RAM would be a deal-breaker for me, but if you're going to use the MAME defaults, you might wanna give it a look-see.

Hmm.  Never seen that one before.

Why is none of this stuff linked from the main page or the sitemap?

And it has 32 inputs instead of 28, although still only 27 are shiftable.
