Mounting feet

Where did you guys get the mounting feet for your motherboard and I-Pac?  I need some for my cocktail table.

I ordered mine from Ultimarc (with the I-pac) and later an extra set from MikesArcade. Bob Roberts also sells them.

Someone on here made a suggestion of taking a plastic BIC pen and cutting equal lengths of it and use those for mounting feet.  I'm going to be doing that for my video amp.

Basically, anything hollow and non-conductive will work.
I've used scraps of cardboard, and double-sided foam tape before, in a pinch.

I think they are called "stand-offs". I too got mine from Ultimarc but I like them enough that I'd like to have a bag on hand for the future. They are way better than those little things that are packed in with motherboards. If anyone find them in quantity and at a cheap price, please post the source. I think the Ultimarc ones were like $3 for 4 of them.

I think they are called "stand-offs". I too got mine from Ultimarc but I like them enough that I'd like to have a bag on hand for the future. They are way better than those little things that are packed in with motherboards. If anyone find them in quantity and at a cheap price, please post the source. Aren't "stand-offs" something else? The suggestion to use a BIC pen sounds more like a stand-off to me. Mounting feet are screwed to something and stay on when you remove the board. Stand-offs are in line with the screw (more like spacers) and fall off when you remove the board.

I'd buy the real thing everytime, but then I'm not trying to save a few bucks (on a machine costing several thousand anyway)

I'm using screw on mounting feet. You can also get stick on ones, but I didn't trust the adhesive over time.

Most people mount the board once and there it stays, so the standoffs falling away when the board is removed is pretty much a non-issue.

If the board is secure and insulated, there's no need for anything fancy.  Save a few bucks where you can.  It's money you can put toward more important things.

I was just explaining what I assumed to be the difference between "mounting feet" and "standoffs".

But Indeed, I probably should have explained why I'd go buy them (apart form not understanding $3 could be an issue):
- $3 is a lot cheaper than the time I would spend on making these things myself
- The mounting feet look fine. I'd fear most home made spacers (I could come up with) would look amateurish
