the horror...
« on: March 15, 2004, 09:15:51 pm »
I was walking through the student lounge at my college today when I noticed an arcade machine parcked against the wall.  "Cool," I thought as I walked over to take a closer look...

Much to my dismay, I realized it was one of those gawd-awful ugly Ultracade machines.  I wonder which moron from the student government thought that would be a good idea...

There are a ton of beat up arcade games laying around the dorms where I attend school.  Mostly Neo Geo's w/ games like puzzle bobble and metal slug as well as some marvel vs capcom's that only have 5 buttons in some funky layout.  No one ever uses them.  I wouldn't mind taking a neogeo off their hands.  I honestly don't think anyone would miss it.  Fortunately there is a great arcade, (Pinball Pete's in ann arbor), that is nearby.

Pinball Pete's is still around?  :o

hehe...I grew up in the metro-Detroit area and spent most of my weekends during high school at Pete's. That and Dave's Comics.

Ok, this Pinball Pete's, is it worth the roadie from Grand Rapids (1.5 hours)?  There are no arcades that I know of over here in west MI, and certainly nothing with pinball games.  If you guys recommend it, I might have to drive over some weekend to blow some quarters.

It's probably safe to say that Pinball Petes is the best arcade place left in Michigan, lest someone can prove otherwise? Heres some links to pictures and write ups about PBs. Deciede for yourself before you make the trip. It's a big place, and the games are always changed up.

The pictures are mainly of the DDR machines which is hardly everything in there. It's a decent place. You might want to check out Game Works in Great Lakes Crossing. I haven't been there personally but I hear it's a pretty cool place.

Yeah I am at the UofM. The best part about Pinball Pete's is that it is huge.  Yes they have a whole area devoted to the DDR games (I am not a big fan of those).  But they also have a section for older games and pinball machines.  They have tons of fighters, lightgun games and those new crummy gimmicky games.  Currently, I do not know of a better arcade.

Wow, I used to work at the Pinball Pete's on South Univ. back when I was going to school in A2.  Glad to hear it's still hanging in there.

That may be true but I think that currently almost no arcades are as good as their predecessors were.
