source for black bolts

can anyone point me in a direction to get some of these black bolts for joystick and mounting? as seen in this pic



i just used standard white (kind polished looking). do they come in different lengthes and such? thanks

You can also paint them.  If they're already smooth, just go over them with satin paint.  Let it cure for a while before trying to use them.  If not smooth, grind them down, polish and then paint.

I sanded the stamped letters off some cheap carriage bolts and sprayed them black. I think they look good.


Thats my $4 ebay coin door($12 shipping), it cleaned up nice. There are nice inserts in the quarter returns they just don't show with the glare from the flash.

Can someone tell me whether the Happ carriage bolts have a square section just below the bolt head.

I realise this is intended to stop the bolts from turning when fitted to wood but it is tricky to make accurate square holes in plexi.

I just used normal carrage bolts sanded the tops then used high gloss black paint.

Carriage bolts by defination of what they are have a square section just below the head. They are actually designed for metal and while they work in wood, they aren't designed for wood and actually don't work very well especially in soft wood. If you get a small triangle file you should be able to square your holes in the plexi. If they didn't have the square they would spin in the hole.

I've had exactly the same problem. None of the large DIY shops seem to sell carriage bolts smaller than M6.

Can you tell me how you paid for Bob Roberts' items? I haven't used him to date because I understood that he only accepted money orders and an international money order costs at least

the happcontrols carriage bolts have a lower and leaner profile as compared with the carriage bolts you will find at a local hardware store. the heads of hardware store carriage bolts are bulbous and might get in the way when used to mount a trackball or maybe a joystick.
