Omega Mame CP Help
« on: December 02, 2003, 07:59:17 am »
All,

I aquired an Omega Race cabinet, nearly complete aside from boards and monitor.  I have MAME on my mind.  My requirement is that I do not ireversibly alter the cabinet or components in the process.

I want to afix a different CP, as I do not want to go drilling in the stock one to add do-hickeys.  Any suggestions on where, how to fabricate or have fabricated a replacement CP "blank"?

Can post pics tonight of what is there, but it is essentially a metal cp with three angles.  Wood will extend over the edges of the cab and look awful so I need something thin, strong, and preferably inexpesive to create (baby on the way). BTW: Some pics can be seen here -

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

oooooh can I have your volcanoe buttons (the player start buttons) if you aren't using them?

Why wouldn't it just be one sheet of metal for the top of the CP (that you'd replace for your mame version...) unless you needed to drill in that front CP art, or needed to expand it why not just one piece of sheet metal to replace the top panel??

If you don't have the means to cut sheet metal (which you can pick up at home depot/etc...) you can get this rectangle fabricated probably for a 12 pack of beer at a local machine shop or maybe a Technical High School / trade school with a machine shop.. (not for beer though... unless you give the beer to the instructor)

*shrug*  going  to check otu that other link you posted...

i would find a omega race cp that has wasted artwork and unpopulated or you could sell the buttons and spinner. redrill it for your controls, cover with artwork and plexi(to cover old holes).that way you know it will fit perfect and you didn't ruin your cp or the cab.

Exactly what I am doing.  I have one on the way that is in good shape.  I am going to go for the multi williams cp layout with an added spinner in the middle.  The p1 and p2 buttons will be two of the volcano buttons from the comming cp.  I will remove the overlay and probably ebay it then have a new one made etc.  May be a little tight under that cp as Omega has a lower marquee with a flourescent, but I think i can do it.  Thanks for the reply.
