Ok, I finally managed to win the Sprint One that I had lost on ebay once before.

Yay! ANOTHER oddball cabinet for my collection.

$50 is actually about what I usually pay. The only games I own that I forked out more than $100 for are my Force II pinball ($150, not fully working yet), and my Crystal Castles ($250). All the rest of my stuff has been $100 or less. Of course I traded around $500 worth of stuff for my Victory pin, but that thing is stinking sweet, probably the only good late 80s Gottlieb pin.

At least all the stuff I still own. I paid think my Assault was $180 (counting tax and auction fees), although I sold it later for $300.

Hey, I remember that game from the local skating rink (where I got my first taste of arcade machines). I love that game. And the cab is great.

Great catch!

Why is it that I'm so attracted to odd loking cabs?  :-\

He had buy it now on it for $50? He could have sold the wheel for more than that.

yep this was a relisting of an auction that got no bids. i happened to see it the day it went up and damn near jumped on it, the owner obviously just wanted rid of it. at the moment i'm just to overloaded with games and with a couple auctions coming up, decided to pass. i'm glad it's going to a good home and not partsville.

on a side note there's a seller in arkansas,(cptrick or something like that) had a sprint 1 minus boards in a sweet cabinet(w/ sprint side art) that he listed several times before it finally sold for $35. another one i debated about grabbing.

Probably has a Motorola monitor in it.

Yeah, it probably does have a Motorola monitor. Those black and white monitors are good stuff. They are rock solid, and have few components so they are easy to work on.

I already know the monitor is good.

Here is the history of this game.

It was on ebay about a month ago, dead. I lost it to the current seller.

He got it up and working, listed it at $350, then it died again. He cancelled that auction, then listed it again (for like a day), that auction seemed to just vanish.

Now it finally came up dead again (although he jacked the coin door from it). I actually put in a lowball bid at first, then I changed my mind, cancelled that, and did the buy it now.

I really like 70s cabinets. They have real flavor, they tend to be a little less gaudy, and most importantly, they are usually in awesome condition, since most black and white games got pulled from the arcade floor back in 1980 when everything went to color.

I am hoping to add a few more 70s cabs to my collection at the St. Louis auction. There was an Asteroid (not Asteroids), at the last one. I wasn't there to get it, but hopefully it will be back (weird games, and dead games often keep coming back). I am also kind of kicking myself for letting an Atari football slip away from me at the last auction I actually attended.

Well, I picked up my Sprint One saturday evening.

On the way over to get it, it kind of started getting a bit wet out. Not really raining, but not dry. So I stopped at Wal-Mart and got a bunch of plastic wrap so I could wrap the thing up.

Ok, we got to the guys house. It seems to me like he was a Mame guy, and not an arcade guy. This was of coursed based on the Mame cabinet in his living room, the lack of any other games, and the fact that he mentioned that he really needed coin door (no one but Mame guys ever seem to NEED coin doors).

We had a SLIGHT loading mishap that nearly left me unable to father children. I was dragging the dolly up the kind of wet hill, and I slipped, and the game and dolly came right down on top of me. Specifically the handle of the dolly impacted me in the leg about an inch away from the ol whooper junior.

Even though it really hurt I just started laughing, I guess I was laughing because it missed. I finally got up, and fell right back down, and then we finally got the game in the truck.

Overall the game is in excellent condition. There is no real damage of any kind to speak of, just a bit of wear hear and there. This game has a metal marquee, never owned one like that before.

The inside of this game was incredibly clean. It really looked like it was new. Even the black and white monitor was absolutely spotless.

In talking to the guy I discovered exactly what he did to the game. He replaced a burnt up fuse holder. That was it.

When I opened it I saw the nice big 25 year old big blue sitting in the bottom of it and smiled. I tried every big blue that I had, but it wouldn't come up with any of them. And the big blue that was in it worked in my Kangaroo. But that doesn't mean a thing, because all my big blues work in my Kangaroo, and only one of my 4 big blues will work in my Crystal Castles (and even then it takes an hour to actually work right).

I also pulled the boardset. Incredibly clean, no sign of repairs, and no corrosion in that problem socket (the one where they used a gold plated socket with a non-gold palted IC.

I did notice 3 massive caps on the boardset that just looked bad. They had a little bit of corrosion on each end. I wrote down their ratings (along with the ratings of every other cap on the board), and put the board back in the cage.

As we speak I am making a deal on a Sprint 2 with different issues. Having them both should make troubleshooting a breeze.

Saturday I picked up a beautiful Sprint 2 to go along with this one. I also got 2 Defenders, an Invaders Mini, an Outrun, a Turbo, and a Bingo pinball.

Hopefully both Sprints should be up and running soon. Right now the Sprint 2 is right next to a Badlands that I am babysitting for someone. Kind of cool to have the first Sprint game (Sprint 2) and the last Sprint game (Badlands) side by side.

I'm not sure if I'm just jealous or concerned for your well being. We might have to organize an intervention and help you with your illness by removing some of the games from your apartment.

where exactly do you put all these machines paige?

I just envision a house with nothing but arcade machines, and you walking around telling visitors "this is my bedroom.... it used to have a bed in it... but you know..... more games.  Let's move on to my bathroom.... hope you don't actually have to use it tho."   :P
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

Well, as of right now there is one PACKED gameroom, not room for one more in there, but still enough floorspace to play everything comfortably. One small cocktail where most people would have their kitchen table. The living room currently has the Hawaii pinball, Sprint 2, Badlands (not mine, will be picked up in a few weeks), and an Outrun.

The basement contains 2 Defenders, a Turbo, and the Invaders mini.

I will be getting rid of the empty video poker cabinet in my gameroom and probably putting the outrun there. Not going to keep BOTH Sprints, will probably sell the Sprint One and keep the Sprint 2 in the living room, putting the Turbo in the gameroom where the Sprint One is now.

The Defender that I will keep, and the invaders mini will both have to go in the living room (along with the Hawaii pin that is already there).
