Where can I download nice scans of speedometers, tachometers, temp gauges, oil gauges, etc....   I would like to use some images on my driving cab and I am having a hard time finding nice clear images.

Instead of graphics you could watch for actual controls to go on sale/clearance.  THey generally arent that much.

or maybe junk yard for parts ??....

I know the whole dash boards are expensive....
but if the dash is already ruined.... just the guage should be cheap.... (and you don't need them to be working anyway....)

hey... hack them to be sound sensitive..... (bounce on loud noise....)

then when you hit turbo... the game give you this "Wrrroommm".... you guage moves !!... (hmmmm... not a bad idea.... haaa haa haa....)  ;) ;D

I bet you could get some cool stuff out of a recently wrecked car at a local junkyard.  It'd look sweet on the panel.

Plus maybe you could get the gauges to spin when pedals are pushed, or when the keyboard LEDs flash.   :)

OK, slow down people....my driving cab is pretty much done.   I am just looking for good scans of gauges to put under the plexi.....  I do not need real gauges.... ;)

Why don't you just find a descent (not necessarily print worthy) pic of some gauges you like and vector them?

Speaking of auto parts.....

My best friend recently got married. He bought his wife a fairly nice really low mileage 91 Cavalier 4 door. Of course she wrecked it two weeks later.

I kind of jokingly suggest that he buy her another Cavalier, cause he has plenty of parts. So, he goes out and buys her ANOTHER 91 Cavalier 4 door.

So now we get to completely strip the wrecked one and put all the parts (engine and tranny too) out in his shed. Poor girl is going to be driving that 91 Cavalier for another 20 years now (seeing as the one they just got has a rebuilt engine, and the one she wrecked only had 40K on it). Or at least until she wrecks the new one.

This has nothing at all to do with arcades, but talking bout the junkyard made me think of it.

I do not really know what "vector them" means....    Is this something to do with PhotoShop or something similiar?

Anyway, I think I have some good pics of water, volt, amp, oil, turbo gauges, but the most important one to have is a good scan of a speedometer and tachometer.  These are hard to find.    I like the ones which glow in the dark or the ones which glow orange with black lettering.  Keep in mind, my background will be black, so black gauges will not look nice.

Anyway, I will keep looking as well, just thought I would ask here in case someone had some....

Read the artwork forum sometime :)

It means make them into vector graphics.

Don't like something about the gauge pictures someone posted at the top?

If that's it, you can use photoshop to modify their colors to fit your color scheme...   unless you're specifically looking for gauges from a certain model of car.

a usual pic captured is at a certain size...

if you keep enlarging it... you'll see pixels of colors....
and the graph doesn't look good anymore...

on the other hand, vector graphics is kinda stored in a different way... using lines.... and their end points.... and so on....
so, even if you keep enlarging it to as big as you want, the pic stays exactly the same quality....

(well..... this is more or less what it means.... but might not be 100% technically correct...)

----------

even if you have a plexi already.... I still would say....
look into if you can get some real guages....
maybe mixing it with pics.....

hey... drilling a few extra holes is not too bad....
heee heee....  ;) ;D
