well, i found out that at work, we have Illustrator, so i did this over the past week or so. it is my very first attempt at vectorizing an image, and i think i did fairly well. i wold love it if you vector veterans would give me a few pointers after looking at this...

i prolly worked on it around 8-9 hours total, i dunno if this is long or short for people like zorg, 3dmacman, and Frosti, but i bet i spent an extra hour or so trying to figure how to use certain tools.

Jakejake  - 1st off good job with sticking with it.  These things can seem like they take forever...believe me you'll get faster next time.  Heh if this one hasn't put you off of doing more that is ;)

Some technical suggestions would be to use round caps and joins for the strokes.  These are a set of 6 buttons found on the stroke pallete.  They basically change the way joints and line ends look.  I like to highlight everything and select the middle 2 buttons out the six.  Also - if someone uses this they'd probably blow it up to a good size, how big depends on the use(overlay vs sideart), so little bits of color showing on a not-quite-perfectly aligned shape and the black outline will be that much more pronounced.

But these are just suggestions and I hope you do some more, we always need more vector art!! This is a great trace, especially the color and the shield.  The shield looks really cool :)

yea, i think i'll just keep practicing, i really like the ability to blow images up big without distortion, hopefully i'll get better. thanks for the suggestions, always ready to learn a bit.
