I was lucky to get it. I was at the Seattle pinball show this weekend and they had it as a show special for a flat $3700.00. It was opened Friday for the show and only had 262 plays when I picked it up!

How do you like the pin, I have a lord of the rings but I would have to have 1 more, like a threatre of magic, but boy those pins are high.  $3700.00 is a steal for a new stern like that, much less than I paid for my lotr pin

I am loving the machines! It has a lot more flow then pirates. The only time the game really stop is when there is a movie clip to start a feature. I was able to play lotr and I really like it seem like it has a deep rule set.
Here are some more pics if anyone is interested.

There's a container load full of IJ's (70) delivered into western Europe and I know that my friend Luc has got one so I'll be able to play it when I visit him again soon :)  :applaud:

Looks like there's some kind of "price war" going on here. The lowest price I've seen so far is €3695 which is still a lot more then I can afford  :'(

I was driving by the "old" Starburst (big Canadian distributor/op) the other night and noticed a bunch of what appeared to be NIB pins stacked in the foyer (they recently moved to a new showroom). I guess they got their shipment of IJ4's.

For a brief moment I considered going home to get the game hauler and driving it through the front window ... a brief moment ...   ;)

Not worth it, man.  Especially not for that title.  You can just look at that game and tell it's not any fun, and the feedback since release has been terrible.

Now, a pile of NIB LOTR on the other hand.... go for it!

I really want to play a LOTR pin! I've tried it in pinmame and was not impressed with the playfield and most all the sound. Everyone says the real thing is awesome though.

I find it hard to believe that the IJ4 machine could be worse than POTC though.

Which pin do you think has been the best stern release in recent years, the only other 3 sterns I have tried has been black spiderman, elvis(both terrible) & pirates, which was fair.

I've played most of the Sterns, and the only one I really like is Elvis. I know, I know, everyone hates it. Me and the Missus just love it though. Yes, the upper PF sucks. The hotel door is broken on both I play on route. I think a creative person could mod the Upper PF and make it much better.

Why do I love it, I really don't know. All I know is that we play it every weekend and NEVER get tired of it .

Nice looking Indy!

I like Sterns though, new machines are fun, new art, new gameplay & new rules are cool you know. Look at SPP for example, that game is so deep you almost need a google button & GPS on that puppy sometimes.

Im just a pinballer who appreciates the attributes of all manufacturers, not just some Bally/WMS purist. Its good to fire up a nice DE, then a good WMS after a few old EM Gottie rounds & then some new school Stern (is it just me or dare I say TOM & CV had a similar feeling to the new pins today?).

Anyway, I wish I had a new IJ!

Huh?

I figured out that PotC is Pirates of the Caribbean, but you lost me at SPP.  :-[ What's SPP, DE, TOM, and CV. I'm learning here so anything good, I'd like to fire up in VP or FP... Ok? :D

EDIT: Wait, maybe I can figure this out. I'm using the bostonpinball price page to figure it out:
TOM = Theater of Magic
SPP = Simpsons Pinball Party
DE = ... Data East (this took the longest :P )
CV = Cirqus Voltaire

.... EDIT 2: I might as well as do the rest too:  :laugh:

POTC = Pirates of the Caribbean
WMS = Williams Manufacturing
EM = Electro Mechanical
GPS = Global Positioning System
IJ = Indiana Jones
PF = Playfield
LOTR = Lord Of The Rings
TSPP = The Simpsons Pinball Party
NIB = New In Box
SS = Solid State

LOL...........you even defined GPS...................Oh, sorry Namco, LOL means laugh out loud.

Hehe, just messing with you.

Anyway, pinballer folks like to rant a lot so to save room for our philosophy we abbreviate when possible.

Its just a matter of time before you talk like the others.... One day you will fire up VP to play SPP & LOL when you JP during MB!

Peace.

SS.....there was a time that that meant something else.....

Anyway, I love Elvis too. I first played it at a company where I was working for a week (maintenance on the fire alarm) and to my amazement there it was in the recreation room. On freeplay. I spent every break there from that moment on :D

One time the regular guys who played it (who first looked a bit annoyed to see "their" machine busy) joined in and I could even keep up with their scores (while I had a LOT less practice then them) :D

Now I play it every time I'm at my Belgian friend Luc. That is, if I come across it between the other 50 pins..........

I like the Elvis pin, too. There's usually one at the Haag expo that I've been to the past few years, and there was one (broken, unfortunately) at the Texas Pinball Festival.

If I was to get a new Stern it would be an Elvis because you can't get a NIB LOTR anymore that I know of.
Old, but not obsolete.

I had a chance recently to play the IJ4 machine.  So I thought I would right a comparative to the STTNG that I own.  1st let me set the tone for the review.  I am not saying that either pin is better than the other and I am not saying that one is good or bad I am merely pointing out the differences I saw in the few games played on the IJ4 vs. my STTNG. The STTNG is a wide body and the IJ4 is a regular one so the 1st thing I noticed was the play field was narrower.  I did not measure it but I would say 4 to 6 inches narrower.  This made it look smaller over all even though it was I am sure about the same height.  .  The IJ4 is a much slower pin.  The ball speed was about half that of my STTNG.  It was hard to get used to when I am used to the speed of the STTNG.  Going along with that the flippers on the IJ4 were not as powerful and the STTNG flippers.  I am not sure but I think the angle of the IJ4 is less than STTNG adding to it being a slower pin.  My 8 year old son even noticed these.  As I said before this is not saying that either is a bad or good pin but just pointing out some differences.  My son and I liked the IJ4.  Over all it is not one that I would think about buying as I like fast pins.
Careful what you wish for you may get it!!
