Mortal Kombat 3 - Tackling New Sideart
« on: January 17, 2008, 06:45:40 pm »
Finally broke down and got some full sideart for my MK3 Mame machine from the great services of Scott at www.mamemarquees.com. Only problem is that he just stretched the "Medallion" sideart so it isn't JUST right. I had it printed 2" taller than the factory art because I built the machine that way. The result is that the "MK3" is cropped off. I'll have to live with it. It's still better than what I had, so I am grateful. It wasn't easy changing the art out, but I think it turned out well. Here are some pics.

Current collection - 28 cabs, 4 pins. (32 machines and not enough room)

I think sacrificing the mk3 logo was worth the full sideart. I really like the new look.

Nicely done... the remaining part of the MK3 isn't very noticeable so it looks great.

How did you manage to scale such a small image so big and still print it out in good quality?

The art was printed out by Scott at www.mamemarquees.com

You'd have to go there and ask him.

Damn, you don't really realize how awesome mk2's sideart was until you see it next to mk3. No offense to you mk3fan, it still looks nice, but damn, Raiden....awesome!

No offense taken. It IS quite nice. Here are some final pics of the machine back in place. I know you really can't see the sideart, but I just wanted to show how it looks where it normally sits. Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Also, if anyone cares to see how this MK3 Mame machine came about, here is the video of it being built...

Finally! I scanned my old "Medallion" side art and cropped the "3" from it and photoshopped it. Took it to my local printing shop and had them print it out. Here is the result. It feels so much better to actually have the full, dedicated look. Thanks for looking!

Man that is just sick! outstanding!!!!!  :notworthy:  :notworthy: How did you get that done? I e-mailed twice and got no response. I even filled out one of those tickets and still got nothing back. I did want some full sideart for my NFL Blitz 99 machine but have since given up on it.

Thanks for the kind words. I just went to the site and paid. I actually got the side art in about a week. Perhaps he is just busy. The site does provide great products and I have used their services 4 times with great results each time. I'd just give Scott some more time.

Thats exactly what I was thinking as well!

Nice work though, I do like the 3 you put on it, not having it would have bugged me (because the other part was cut off).

Thanks! My specs are AMD 2400+ chip, 2GB RAM and 250GB HD. I am using ArcadeVGA and all the MK's play beautifully. No lag or sound issues. All the settings through MAME are the default ones for each MK.
