Hey guys
Just wondering if anyone here might have some input on this.
I have a home theater system that works quite nice except that I have a tough time hearing dialog.
Soooo, I picked up a nice sennheiser wireless headset that connects to standard rca audio jacks, so I listen via the headphones while everyone else just listens to the normal speakers.
That part works great.
The problem is that my receiver is an Onkyo tx-nr809. It doesn't technically have a "tape monitor". Instead it has Zone2 and Zone3.
BUT those only can output analog signal and the onkyo won't cross convert a digital input signal (say on an HDMI input) to analog. Instead, I have to connect all my components by BOTH HDMI AND analog so that the receiver sees the full digital signal, and the Zone2 output can see the analog.
unfortunately, devices that an Xboxone and a chromecast don't have analog outputs, so they don't work.
I've tried "HDMI Audio extractors" but having gone through 3 different makes, none of them actually see to work consistently, so I don't think that's not going to be a solution.
Anyone have any suggestions on a receiver that can cross convert like this?
Or is this just a pipe dream?
Thanks!
